ABSENTEE VOTING
All about voting by mail.
New York law now allows all voters to vote by mail without needing a specific reason, but still offers absentee ballots for those with qualifying excuses. The process for both is similar, but the type of ballot you request will depend on your reason for voting by mail.
How to apply for a mail-in ballot:
You can request an absentee or early mail ballot from the Westchester County BOE using several methods: online through the NYS portal, via email to BOE [email protected], by fax at (914) 995-7753 or (914) 995-3190, by mailing a paper application to their White Plains address, or by applying in-person at the BOE office.
Returning your mail-in ballot:
Once completed, your ballot should be placed in the provided envelopes, signed, and dated. You can return it by mail or by dropping it off in person at the Westchester County BOE office or any Election Day poll site.
Important note on voting in-person:
If you request and are issued a mail-in ballot, you must vote using an affidavit ballot if you decide to vote in-person.
Contact information:
For assistance, you can contact the Westchester County Board of Elections at (914) 995-5700, or specifically for absentee ballots at (914) 995-5285 or (914) 995-5291. Their office is located at 445 Hamilton Avenue, 8th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601.
